When you're looking for a job, a resume is important to differentiate you from other job candidates. Here are a few tips to help you when writing your resume.

1. Tailor your resume to the job you're applying for. Include specific skills and experiences that are relevant to the job. Think about what the employer is looking for in a candidate and focus your resume on those skills.

2. Include numeric examples. Your past performance is best described quantifying the results. For example, rather than saying you "increased your sales," you can say you "increased your sales by 72% across a 3-month span." Your past performance is indicative of your future results.

3. Use strong keywords in your resume. It is important that you use strong words to describe your past experience. For instance, you want to use words such as "managed," "accomplished," and "executed" to really show the employer your abilities.

4. Keep your resume clean and concise. Do NOT try to include as much information as possible in your resume. Stick to the important skills that you know will catch the employer's eye. A clean resume that is easy to read will get you further than a jumbled resume with too much info.

5. Always check your resume for errors. Make sure, before sending it in, that you have proofread your resume. If you've spent hours on writing your resume, it would be a shame if the employer were to deny you a job for misspellings. Always check your work!

If you've ever been to a job interview, you understand how stressful it can be. Here are a few tips to help you get through your next interview.

1. Do your research on the employer and company. Always make sure you come prepared with knowledge on the company. Understand what the employer is looking for and what the job requires. Use your research as a tool to answer any questions that the employer may have.

2. Arrive on time. It is important that you make a good first impression, and that starts with arriving on time. "On time" means to arrive at least five to ten minutes early. This gives you enough time to avoid traffic, accidents, etc. The extra time you have gives you the opportunity to concentrate on the interview.

3. Make sure you come prepared. Bring extra copies of your resume and cover letter with you in case the employer forgot to print them out. Always have extra paper and pens in the event that you need to take notes.

1. Do not repeat your resume. Instead of repeating yourself, use your cover letter to give additional details on certain projects or skills that you weren't able to describe on your resume.

2. Write a personalized cover letter. Just like the resume, you want to make sure that your cover letter is addressed to the appropriate employer. Make sure you include descriptions that you know will impress the employer.

3. Highlight the right experiences. This is the moment you can go into detail about experiences you're most proud of from either your previous job or in your past career. Make sure that you emphasize experiences that you know will showcase your skills.

4. Keep your cover letter short and sweet. The purpose of a cover letter is to give the employer another opportunity to glance at your skills. Make sure that you keep your cover letter short, but with content that will make you stand out. You don't want the employer to skip your cover letter because it was too long and detailed.
